Late Night Planting Beets

August 17, 2015

I'd write you an interesting and informative blog right now but I have to go outside to plant more beets...with a head lamp on...gonna be a long night! But we'll all be enjoying some sweet beets when the weather is cooler!

This week's share consists of:

Full Share-  tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, scallions, cilantro, cantaloupe, potatoes, garlic, red beets, head lettuce, red kale

Half Share- tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, scallions, cilantro, cantaloupe

What can I make with my share this week?? Here are a couple of ideas!

Cantaloup and Cucumber Cutouts- This is a really fun way to eat fruits and veggies. Cucumbers and melons are ideal for this because they are firm and hold their shape but don't require cooking after cutting. I recently used mini flower and butterfly cookie cutters to cut up a cantaloupe for my daughter and her friend and they loved it. The leftover melon can be eaten or used in smoothies, fruit salads, etc. http://www.madiganmade.com/2011/06/garden-fresh-herbed-cucumber-flower.html
